Would you like to
gain confidence in
the role you play at
work – whether that
role is executive,
manager, or team
member? |
|
 |
Are you ready to
take on a large goal
like completing an
important project,
taking on new
responsibilities, or
getting a promotion? |
|
 |
How would your career
progress if you more
fully developed your
leadership,
managerial, or
communication
skills? |
|
 |
Are you being
overlooked for the
most interesting
projects because you
lack effective time
management or
organization skills? |
|
 |
Do you have room for
improvement in the
area of stress or
conflict management? |
The Process
The coaching relationship
may be initiated by an
individual or by a leader on
behalf of a member of their
team. Either way, the
process is the same and
coaching requires a high
level of commitment on the
part of both the coach and
the person receiving
coaching.
At the outset, we discuss
and clarify the goals of
coaching by taking stock of
what the client wishes to
address and achieve. We
review the client’s vision,
their desired outcomes, how
they define great
performance and success, and
how their goals align with
the goals of their
organization. With this
information in hand, we
develop goals and an action
plan including specific
steps and strategies to help
the client achieve results.
During the coaching process,
clients are held accountable
to follow through on what
they say is important to
them, their assumptions are
challenged, they develop new
habits and more effective
ways of working, and they
are supported and encouraged
in a way that helps them
succeed.
The Benefits
The benefits of coaching are
many.
Some of these include:
 |
Accountability to create
an action plan and
follow through on goals |
 |
A plan that is focused
on exactly what the
client needs |
 |
Objective feedback |
 |
A safe, confidential
place to brainstorm and
evaluate options |
 |
A relationship that
grows
and
changes
as needs change |
Logistics
Coaching may be done in
person, by telephone, or a
combination. Sessions are
usually held either weekly
or bi-weekly for as long as
the client feels the need
for continuing support, is
making progress toward their
goals, and is seeing
results. Clients are
frequently offered
assignments or reading to
complete between coaching
sessions. In some instances,
a client’s co-workers or
associates are interviewed
as part of the coaching
process (always with the
client’s knowledge and
approval). Coaching is
completely confidential.
